IT Concepts is seeking a Wireless Network Engineer who will support several projects at a federal agency.
The position is located in Woodlawn, MD.
The qualified candidate should have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with sharp attention to detail.
Key Duties: Configure, test, update/maintain software, and install Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) Troubleshoot/Problem Determination and Escalation - VLANs, ports, switches, wireless, VPN, Video, NAC, VOIP, modems, multi-casting, layer 2 and layer 3 type problems etc.
Create, plan, update, and implement network standards and documentation and establish policies based on industry best practices.
Create, test, implement, and document new scripts for automating network updates.
Update network devices, maintain Integration Center, and ship out inventory from Integration Center.
Evaluate current Wireless/NAC infrastructure and recommend security improvements.
Design, Configure, Install, secure Wireless/VPN/NAC networks & solutions.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for any network implementation initiative.
Roles & Responsibilities: A proactive support environment with technical knowledge and resources available on demand 24 x 7 with 15-minute response time.
Provide technical support in a multi-vendor environment.
A proactive support environment with technical knowledge in support of Wireless Infrastructure.
Cisco ISE.
Provide problem determination and root cause analysis.
Provide configuration support services & project support services.
Provide Lab support and perform testing of new hardware and operating systems, code levels, patches, or hotfixes.
Create, Review, Evaluate, and update SSA standards.
Design and Engineering, scripting, Installation, auditing, optimization, Research and Development, Knowledge transfer, and training Update SSA internal Change, Assets, and Problem Reporting System (CAPRS) to enter changes, track, and update problems.
Create, Update, and maintain Contractor provided Inventory and Deployment Tracking Software Network engineering services primarily support Cisco equipment (switches, routers, wireless, VPN/NAC) Although not directly responsible for VoIP, network engineers must support VoIP through problem determination, setting up Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN), installing switching, ensuring proper QOS, etc.
Network engineering not only includes technology refreshment, MACs, and expansions, but other support services that include: maintenance; research and development; troubleshooting and root cause analysis; scripting; documenting; updating network engineering website, supporting lab; testing; auditing; etc.
For complex sites, we will require an engineer on-site to perform configuration changes, move cables, perform problem determination, and ensure QA is complete.
Requirements Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience required: Must have minimum five (5) years of hands-on network experience.
Must have recent Telecommunication experience.
Must have Identity Services Engine (ISE) experience.
At level two (2) Cisco Certified Network Engineers must possess a Cisco CCNP or equivalent level of Cisco Certification We also need to ensure to hire the candidate to access the Cybercore Wearhouse.
Knowledge and experience with Cisco based Wireless control systems Experience with deployment of Cisco DNAC for monitoring and deployment of wireless at remote facilities Knowledge and experience with Cisco ISE for Access control to wireless networks Experience with load-balancing applications/hardware for integration with wireless infrastructure Ability to configure and deploy Cisco-based switches that will support the wireless infrastructure Experience with troubleshooting wireless client and network infrastructure issues Experience with flex deployments for remote locations Ability to configure wireless controllers with new AP deployments Experience with Ekahau software for wireless deployment site surveys Knowledge of how to configure and use the Windows native supplicant to work with 802.

1x protocols Institutional knowledge of current wireless standards and protocols used throughout the industry to make recommendations for SSA Note: Contractor personnel must carry and respond to government-provided paging devices or phone calls during off-hours and weekends for ad hoc “on-call” support within a 15-minute time frame.
Key and Non-Key Contractor personnel will receive a Government-furnished laptop, with VPN, to assist with the 15-minute response time requirement.
