Job Description:
This position is responsible to perform general maintenance; minor construction and renovation projects including finished carpentry work to existing facilities and minor repair to furniture and furnishings as it relates to a college campus environment.
This position is considered essential personnel.
This position is required to work some nights and weekends as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
20% A.
Performs carpentry maintenance tasks to the interior and exterior of academic, student dormitories, and office buildings.
This also includes repair and maintenance to roofs, guttering, window and door hardware, lock mechanisms, replacing floor and ceiling tile, patching and painting sheetrock/plaster walls, and making roof repairs.
20% B.
Performs repair and maintenance tasks to building furnishings and furniture.
This includes window dressings, such as shades, blinds, curtain hangers and supports.
20% C.
Performs construction, fabrications, such as cabinet, bookcase, and shelving work; and renovations to existing facilities to include working with concrete, motor, brick and block.
10% D.
Interprets structural drawings and schematics as it relates to building structural components.
5% E.
Perform construction projects as required by the supervisor including hanging doors, building walls, replacing glass, etc.
5 % F.
Performs snow removal duties
5 % G.
Performs other general repair and maintenance duties as required by supervisor.
5 % H.
Provide own hand tools.
Education:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Completion of an accredited trade school program specializing in the carpentry field.
Professional Experience:
Required: 5 years of experience in the diversified carpentry trades, to include finish carpentry skills working with cabinetry, shelving, etc.
Possess basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with masonry tasks as it relates to supporting the carpentry trades.
Possess the skill and ability to operate carpentry trade power tools and hand tools.
Ability to use and operate ancillary tools that assist in work completion such as ladders, lifts, scaffolding, vacuums, fans, and other associated tools as needed.
Preferred: 7 years of experience in the diversified carpentry trades, to include finish carpentry skills working with cabinetry, shelving, etc.
Possess basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with masonry tasks as it relates to supporting the carpentry trades.
Possess the skill and ability to operate carpentry trade power tools and hand tools.
Ability to use and operate ancillary tools that assist in work completion such as ladders, lifts, scaffolding, vacuums, fans, and other associated tools as needed.
Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and outlook.
Must be able to use a computer to research and provide needed information, complete necessary forms and assigned training.
Strong ability to receive instruction via ipad/ computer and respond as appropriate.
Proficiency navigating various forms of computerized technology both currently used systems and processes as well as future technologies is required.
The starting salary for this position is $22.
52 per hour.
