Overview: KCI's Water Resources Practice in Sparks, Maryland is looking for a motivated Project Engineer to support our growing team.
Typical work assignments include NPDES MS4 support services; hydrologic & hydraulic modeling; drainage / stormwater management / erosion and sediment control design in support of private, municipal, and transportation projects; restoration work in support of local TMDLs and Chesapeake Bay Restoration; and maintenance / construction inspection.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other: Completion of hydrologic and hydraulic studies (floodplain, drainage improvement, climate resiliency, dam breach).
Design and preparation of construction drawings for various water resources projects.
Projects include: drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, restoration.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS required.
Civil3D, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads experience preferred.
Lead the development of multiple projects and plans.
These duties will be coordinated directly with the client, and KCI Project Manager.
Mentor staff and direct work assignments on projects.
Perform quality control review of delegated work.
Performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment.
Assignments usually include engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawing and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation.
Helps to coordinate work of multiple engineering disciplines, as well as drafting/CADD work for the project.
Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills.
Must be a self-motivated dynamic individual.
PE required.
Candidate must have worked on all phases of design and have been involved in industry related services of a project.
Good problem solving, communication, and technical writing skills are required.
A solid background of reliability, commitment to task and project completion and success is required.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Appropriate graduate level work is preferred.
Minimum of 5 - 9 years of professional experience.
Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment.
Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
Performance Expectations: Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence Comply with all KCI policies and procedures Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required Complete other duties as required/assigned Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(75%-80% typical) Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks Chart and provide task performance results Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters Prepare interpractice agreements and/or outside requests as required Provide technical project and staff oversight Serve as task manager on select projects Compare field data to base plan Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job Review and approve shop drawings Complete Annual Individual Training Program KCI Technologies, Inc.
