is looking for Battery Cell Development Project Engineer team member in an R&D organization, developing next-generation cell technology for high energy and high-power applications.
The successful applicant will develop; produce innovative cell designs and manufacturing processes.
Expect to spend 50%-60% of your time on the manufacturing floor supporting prototype fabrication and testing for design analysis and validation.

What you will be doing:
Develop various cell design to meet the customer specified electrical requirements for the primary/rechargeable batteries.
Demonstrate leadership in developing cylindrical, prismatic design in pouch and hardware cell formats.
Develop battery products from the first concept design stage, optimize cell performance, validate/qualification testing, and end in a CDR and transition to manufacturing.
Lead development phases, including cell design refinement, validation, and process implementation in the production environment.
Correlate electrochemical data and process parameters to optimize Li-Ion cell design and performance.
Demonstrate problem-solving ability and resolve battery performance/manufacturing issues; the ability to rapidly adapt to changes and promote new ideas to improve the new/current product.
Develop test procedures and implementation of test plans and analyze data evaluation.
Actively participate in prototype fabrication and testing for design analysis and validation in the cell manufacturing processes (50-60% of the time will be on the manufacturing floor).
Write product specifications, operation procedures, and technical reports, and interface with customers and suppliers.
Assume a leadership role in technical projects while working in a team environment.
Exceptional organizational, troubleshooting, interpersonal, leadership skills and ability to work and lead effectively with a diverse team required.
A high degree of professionalism, excellent communication, and presentation skills.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.
Four (4) or more years of work experience in cell development and manufacturing focus.
Strong experience in developing cylindrical (18650, 21700, or 4680), prismatic, flat wound cells in pouch and hardware cell designs.
Experience with materials, electrode design, and electrochemical cell design preferred.
Work experience in developing primary and rechargeable cell technologies.
Experience with CAD solid modeling and engineering drawings preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft® Office products.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Nice to have:
Experience with materials compatibility, packaging, tooling design, welding, process engineering, testing, and data analysis.
Working experience with Li metal anode, graphite anode, silicon anode, solid-state electrolyte, advanced Li-Ion cathode chemistry, and primary chemistries (CFx, MnO2).
