We are looking for qualified water meter installers, plumbers, pipe fitters, irrigation specialists, or related industry technicians, with at least 1 year experience in one or all related fields of work.

Vanguard is seeking highly motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join its team.
Vanguard Utility Service has partnered with *Howard County, MD* to install water meters within the County.
The County's water meter upgrade project resumes in April 2023 & Vanguard is looking to fill a few remaining water meter technician positions.
If you are a self-starter, quality minded, enjoy working outdoors, and looking for a chance to earn unlimited compensation, this may be the right position for you.
· Conduct utility water meter services throughout assigned areas
· Safely and efficiently install the water meters accurately and associated equipment with various hand tools and manage your daily allotment of inventory
· Read & record data information accurately in a mobile hand-held device, basic computer skills are helpful
· Follow standard operating procedures and company policies
· Communicate with utility customers effectively and respectfully
· Receive and return utility meters, tools, equipment, and supplies each day
_*REQUIREMENTS:*_
* *Previous similar work history preferred*
* Able to bend, stoop, walk constantly and lift 40 lbs.
* Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone 90% of the time, while still being part of a local team.
* Ability to assemble and disassemble plumbing components
* Must be able to work well with hand-held electronic devices.
* Must be able to work outdoors and withstand the regional, seasonal weather.
* Should have reliable transportation.
* Strong work ethic and dependable; Consistent attendance is imperative.
* Must have a valid driver's license & reliable work vehicle with current insurance.
* *Must be drug-free, able to pass employment background check, and have a clean driving record.

* You must be able to pass the County's background check & become a badged County representative
* Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
* Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements.
* Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
*This is a piece rate position, wages are based on number of meters installed.
*
*Current pay scale for this job is piece rate at $18 per install.
*
*A MININUM of 10-16 installs are required daily.
*
