Position Summary
Perform tasks involving operating a roller for asphalt paving of parking lots, pathways and roadways.
Note: This position is considered safety sensitive
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project.
Responsible for the finished product while following proper safety and traffic precautions.
Prepare road surfaces for hot asphalt material.
Distribute and rake asphalt material used in construction, repair and resurfacing.
Finish surfaces by smoothing and tamping asphalt material to the proper grade and thickness to properly adhere material to the road surface.
Repair utility cuts by removing temporary material and replacing with permanent hot asphalt material
Must have a safety first attitude.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
Manual labor including shoveling, sweeping, raking, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years asphalt roller experience.
Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction work.
Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of highways, roads and parking lots.
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

Excellent stamina is required.
The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
