Position Summary: Assists in the daily operations of the quality control department.
Performs all related functions by fulfilling the duties below.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Performs analytical and sensory testing on raw materials, sub flavors and finished products to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
Runs samples on the GC/MS system and performs intermediate analysis of data.
Runs samples on the GC/MS system and performs intermediate troubleshooting analysis of data.
Works with production personnel and other Quality Scientists to ensure that testing results are in line with relevant dates.
Quality Scientist 3 will lead this effort.
Maintains organization of QC documents and retain samples.
Files retain samples in a timely manner, according to QC procedures.
Assist Quality Control Manager and Assistant Manager where needed.
Adherence to all safety requirements.
Other duties as assigned by Quality Control Manager.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
5 years laboratory and/or flavor or food industry experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong math skills.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to data as well as to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret basic technical instructions in mathematical form.
Working computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office and Sage software system.
Ability to discern slight differences in odor, color, and appearance is essential.
Confidence to verbalize these differences to the QC team in required.
Familiarity with the following equipment: Combined meter: specific gravity and refractive index, Moisture meter, Flash point tester, Gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer, and Melting point apparatus.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, results-oriented, challenging environment.
This position requires a regular presence in the office.
