Maintenance Helper

JOB SUMMARY/FUNCTION This position requires minor skills in maintenance repairs, painting, and use of tools.
Mechanical aptitude is required.
This position may require some physical exertion at times and is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the Hospital grounds.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs duties in a manner that is consistent with the Hospital’s Service Excellence Vision, as well as the Service Excellence Values and Behavior Standards outlined in the attached Addendum to Job Description.
Responsible for attending mandatory departmental and Hospital in-service and competency programs and updating his/her Individual Education Record.
Performs all duties in a manner that is consistent with the Hospital's Employee Code of Conduct.
Acknowledges the ultimate responsibility is to directly or indirectly serve the needs of every patient as defined in the Hospital Mission Statement.
Responsible for attending mandatory departmental meetings, unit departmental meetings, hospital inservices and competency programs and accurately updating his/her individual education record.
May be asked to participate in unit-based committees and improvement teams.
Maintains acceptable attendance and punctuality in order to maximize his/her contribution to the organization in accordance with Hospital policy.
Maintains Hospital grounds to assure a litter free and trash free environment.
Maintains all painted curbing and crosswalks.
Works with lawn maintenance contractor to assure neat and well groomed property.
Responsible to maintain all parking lots, driveways, and potted plants on the Hospital campus.
Assist Maintenance crew with daily routines including, but not limited to: Air filter maintenance Assist mechanics and tradesman as needed Light bulb replacement and daily cart rounds Help clean work areas and interstitial areas Help move furniture and make necessary warehouse runs Pick up parts ordered by Plant Operations and Maintenance Pressure wash sidewalks at entrances and loading dock area Vent cleaning Minor equipment repairs Perform snow removal as a member of a team Perform minor painting projects indoor and outdoor GENERAL DUTIES Performs other duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Two (2) years experience in construction, building or property maintenance, or completion of a vocational school training program in related trades.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and write.
Requires reading to understand and verify accuracy (e.
g.
, check spelling, grammar, simple editing, etc.
).
Requires writing to record basic information (e.
g.
, filling out forms, taking messages, etc.
).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Numerical skills.
Requires use of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
