SUMMARY
A successful Journeyman HVAC Service Technician performing diagnostics, preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and overhauls on air and water-cooled chillers.
You will also service cooling towers as well as complex modifications of associated systems and components.
Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems.
Primary responsibility will be chiller and cooling tower systems.
However work on other HVAC systems may be required.
The technician will receive and evaluate work orders and requests, investigate problems for solutions and complete all necessary repairs/maintenance on assigned cooling system equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Responsible for servicing all products and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Uses a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at customer’s location.
Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
Ability to troubleshoot HVAC components with built up systems and package units, which may include chiller air handler pump towers, cooling towers, controls systems, boilers, air handling systems, refrigeration and controls.
Diagnoses, repairs, replaces, adjusts installs and monitors controls on chillers and associated components for various manufacturers, i.
e.
York, McQuay, Trane, Carrier, etc.
Troubleshoots and repairs chillers of all types, i.
e.
hermetic, scroll, centrifugal, etc.
Repairs components and performs complex modifications of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components; including compressors, cooling towers, motors, pumps, fans, piping, transducers, flow switches, low pressure chillers, economizers, variable speed drivers, etc.
Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
Maintains equipment by inspecting for signs of ware.
Notifies customer and/or Project Manager of findings.
Legibly documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job, mission and values of the company.
Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; and maintaining files.
Keep and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Operate all company owned equipment safely and responsibly.
Records parts, material, labor, subs and other cost data per assignment and returns unused resources.
Turns in all required paperwork and reports daily.
Keeps current on all Havtech Manufacturer’s products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair.
Read and interpret product specifications and experience in working with building specifications, drawings and designs.
Provides technical support to customers.
Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as necessary.
Regular travel requirements with some overnight travel SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS/ CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a Technical / Trade School with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and eight (8) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess computer skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Valid Driver’s License.
Clean driving record.
EPA Certification.
HVAC Journeyman license in MD and/or Virginia required.
HVAC Journeyman license in Washington DC required.
Additional license; Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.
preferred.
Applicant must be a current member or be able to successfully join UA Local 602.
