Building Automation Systems Estimator
The BAS Estimator is responsible for assisting in the successful qualification and estimating of controls projects.
This individual will be tasked to identify and coordinate standards to achieve consistent and reliable project cost forecasting from Havtech Solutions leadership, project managers, field personnel and both material and subcontractor partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Utilizes plans, specifications and knowledge of controls/construction industry to analyze project needs and compiles detailed cost estimates.
Responsible for the take-off and pricing of controls materials to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
Identifies possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects.
Visits existing building sites to determine project scope as required.
Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards.
Develops the scope of work for sub-contractors.
Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials/services.
Coordinates controls equipment discounts with regional vendors.
Documents work by maintaining files for each job.
Uses estimating software to develop cost assemblies and standards to promote consistency.
Conducts job pre-bid meetings with Account Managers and Sales Engineers to review scope, strategy, etc.
Develops and maintains business relationships that support HAVTECH success with corresponding support firms such as; Sales Engineers, subcontractors, design consultants, mechanical contractors, commissioning agents and material vendors.
Communicates estimating needs to internal and external customers in a timely manner.
Creates detailed cost estimates including controller sizing charts, electrical estimates, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposal, points list, and system riser/sketches and cartoons.
Participates in job turnover meetings after project award.
Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
Perform other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred with one (1) year experience in estimating, engineering or construction management; or Associates degree in Engineering and/or three (3) year’s experience in estimating, engineering or construction management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of the operation of HVAC systems, electrical systems and temperature controls strongly preferred.
Excellent oral/written communication skills.
Ability to travel within a defined region at least 10% of the time.
Ability to function independently and deliver results.
