Description STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES seeks an experienced and motivated Structural Engineer to join our forensic investigation and structural repair design engineering team.
This position will be based in our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD, working closely to support and collaborate with our regional engineering teams in Baton Rouge, Chicago, Houston, and Kansas City.
STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is part of STRUCTURAL GROUP, the largest concrete specialty concrete repair contractor in the United States.
Our integrated investigate-design-build teams identify problems, create repair solutions, and implement repair projects for owners in the industrial, nuclear power generation, and other key markets.
At STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, we work with our fully integrated repair companies to develop engineered solutions that sustain and enhance infrastructure across a broad range of end-user markets.
We serve owners and managers of infrastructure, as well as designers, engineers, and general contractors, across the U.
S.
and in select international markets.
This position will be a role that requires in-depth knowledge of how structures are designed and behave, including industrial and power-generating buildings and structures, dynamic equipment foundations, and environmental (liquid-retaining) structures.
Responsibilities: · Technical Expertise: Apply your expertise in structural engineering to provide comprehensive forensic analysis and evaluation of existing and new heavy industrial structures, including steel and concrete structures.
· Construction Support: Collaborate closely with the construction team across the nation and around the globe to offer guidance and technical support throughout the construction process, ensuring compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Forensic Analysis: Conduct detailed investigations, utilizing advanced analytical techniques and tools, to determine the root causes of structural failures, deterioration, or incidents in heavy industrial structures.
· Technical Reports: Prepare clear, concise, and well-structured technical reports documenting findings, analysis, and recommendations based on the forensic investigations and recommended design solutions.
· Team Development: Provide mentorship and participate in building and growing the local engineering team, attracting and hiring skilled professionals as the workload expands.
· Client Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring excellent communication and customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
· Project Ownership: Lead and oversee complex multiphase engineering projects internally, including teams of engineers and drafters.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Certifications: · Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
· Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on heavy industrial structures and forensic analysis.
Previous experience in construction support and project management is highly desirable.
· Professional Registration: Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) · Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis and Drafting software (such as SAP2000, ANSYS, Mathcad, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar), as well as familiarity with building codes and standards relevant to heavy industrial structures.
· Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to analyze complex structural issues and develop effective solutions.
Experience performing structural design and analysis for a wide range of structures involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Adaptability: Willingness to travel to project sites across the continental United States as needed.
(<25%) Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Certifications: · Education: Master's or Ph.
D.
degree in civil or structural engineering.
· Repair Specifications and Standards: Experience with American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) codes, standards, guidelines, and recommended practices for the design, construction, and repair of concrete structures.
· Professional Organizations: Active in professional organizations, such as ASCE, ACI, AMPP, SEI, and ICRI.
