What will you DO?
Manage Programs aimed at the development or production of Lithium Ion Battery Systems including, but not limited to direct responsibilities for the following activities:
Planning – Generate detailed plans for the execution of the required work scope in line with approved budget and schedule.
Generate detailed financial plans including program funding, revenue, invoicing, spending, by type, over time.
Generate a detailed program functional schedule tool to serve to communicate appropriate details to team, management, & customer, and to utilize for your own benefit in tracking/managing work on program.
Develop other program plans as appropriate such as manufacturing plans, test plans, deliverable documentation plans, etc.
Project Execution – Oversee the overall execution of the project work scope.
This includes necessary communications (including primary point of contact with external customers), leadership/attendance of daily, weekly, monthly, or other meetings as appropriate, good decision making on a day-to-day basis to resolve issues, checks/reviews to ensure quality of all project deliverables.
Monitor & Control – Setup appropriate program metrics, and adhere to established practices to use in monitoring the progress in comparison to the baseline established by the initial detailed planning.
Utilize available data to drive informed decisions.
Analyze the actual results for any gaps against planned progress, estimated spending, or technical achievement.
Together with site management determine a plan of action to correct any gaps that exist, to ensure program success.
Particular attention should be given to management of risks & opportunities in the form of identification, mitigation, and tracking.
Closeout – Perform program closeout including confirmation of all deliverables, performance of all scope, final financial invoicing, etc.
in accordance with applicable procedures.
Manage Proposal efforts to external customers or seeking internal funding for the initiation of new contracts, projects, or programs in accordance with procedures and practices of the company including, but not limited to direct responsibilities for the following activities: Scope Definition – ensure that effort required is matched to Saft’s capabilities and in line with a budget and schedule that can be agreeable to all parties.
Financial Cost/Price Estimation – From the appropriate Scope Definition ensure that an accurate and complete financial estimation is developed (in accordance with the necessary fidelity of the proposal) and is approved according to internal procedures.
Schedule Development – From the appropriate Scope Definition develop an overall schedule estimate using timings for required activities including contracting, development activities, material lead times, manufacturing spans, test/qualification efforts.
Generation of necessary/appropriate content to accompany proposal such as technical proposal, management section, cost volume, other documentation, forms, etc.
as required to explain the effort proposed and to facilitate the initiation of the effort.
Actively collaborate with: Program Coordinator (a direct report) to guide and oversee toward day-to-day management of routine activities and assigned tasks Contracts team to establish baseline information for new awards in accordance with established procedures and for subject matter expertise on obligations under existing or potential future contracts.
Development and Engineering teams to execute any programs of a research or developmental nature, ensure adequate management of product lifecycles, and for reliable subject matter expertise.
Sales team to strategize and pursue new opportunities for existing products or for developments to meet customer needs.
Operations team on execution of existing and potential programs to ensure compliance and alignment with Saft capabilities (timing, quantities, etc.
).
Site Management on established program reporting and actions in response to management reviews.
Customers on the execution of existing programs and any additional opportunities to meet their needs.
What experience do you NEED? A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a business-related field.
Qualified applicants will have at least twelve years of program management experience, gained within an industrial, engineering or research & development setting.
Qualified applicants will have at least five years of program management experience with budget responsibility >$1M.
Candidates should employ strong work habits, in regard to codes and standards, time management, meeting preparation/participation and ethics compliance.
Candidates must have a proven work history of creating technically accurate and high-quality documentation.
What experience would be HELPFUL to have? Ideal candidates will have a background or strong familiarity with a DoD environment including MIL-STDs, FAR, DFAR, typical government document deliverable formats, and government contracting.
Highly-qualified candidates will also have experience with complex commercial / government proposal preparation, and demonstrated ownership of lifecycle management for technical products.
Knowledge of battery products would be extremely helpful but is not necessary.
PMP Certification is a plus.
What TECHNOLOGY should you have used? Candidates should be highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Microsoft Project, and be able to learn new software applications.
A high level of financial acumen as it relates to program management is essential.
