The Dining Services Mechanic works under general direction and performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks including diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing, electrical and mechanical components of commercial food service equipment.
A typical workday is Mon-Fri, 7am-3:30pm.
This is an essential position required for kitchen emergencies, and other campus emergencies, additional hours will be required as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties
In coordination with Towson University Facilities Management and Towson University Dining Services: oil, clean, adjust, overhaul and repair of commercial cooking and ware wash equipment.
Use test equipment and instruments to locate and diagnose malfunctions in ovens, steamers, ranges, dish machines, fryers, and other kitchen equipment.
Perform major overhaul and repair work that involves disassembly and inspection of parts, replacement of defective or worn parts, reassembly of equipment, instruments and/or controls, and testing equipment to ensure that it is functioning properly.
Perform a variety of preventative maintenance functions on food service equipment and maintain proper records.
Assist Campus Facilities Management personnel as needed for campus emergencies and other special circumstances.
Work all sporting events as needed and required.
Qualifications and Skills
High School diploma or equivalent.
Five or more years of related work experience in the trade.
Five years of related maintenance experience and thorough knowledge of legal requirements and safety codes related to the installation and operation of refrigeration systems.
Candidate must possess a valid MD driver's license with no more than 5 points.
CFESA Master certification.
Must have extensive electrical, plumbing, gas, steam, and basic knowledge of electronics.
Must be able to read Schematics of all styles.
