Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use of the parking resources and the safe transport of community members who utilize the campus shuttle and charter services.
The Parking Enforcement Associate is a position with high visibility on campus and is responsible for patrolling the campus to enforce parking regulations and assisting with various campus events.
May also serve as a back-up for Paratransit Services upon meeting qualifications.
This position is classified as Essential personnel.
Responsibilities and Duties
Conducts foot & vehicle patrols of assigned territories to perform duties related to the issuance of parking citations using several types of computerized equipment.
Provides customer assistance to members of the campus community and visitors about parking and transportation services.
Monitors parking lots and directs guests to appropriate parking areas for various events held across campus.
Completes basic maintenance tasks associated with the parking and transportation program to include sign installation and removal, painting, basic system, and equipment preventative maintenance, and setting up and breaking down parking control devices.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of parking enforcement, security, or customer service-related experience.
Ability to learn and interpret parking regulations and procedures; ability to learn and utilize several different computerized systems; and the ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
The successful candidate is an ambassador for the University and must be able to adapt to changing situations and handle difficult customers while maintaining excellent customer service skills.
A valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent with no more than 5 points is required and candidate must fulfill the requirements to operate a Maryland State Vehicle.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits
$16.
87/hr.
Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
