*Asphalt Screed Operator*
*Position Summary*
A Screed Operator (or Screw Man) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the screed.
This role involves ensuring the accurate and consistent application of asphalt on roadways, parking lots, and other surfaces.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Operate the asphalt paver screed to lay asphalt to the specified thickness and grade.
· Inspect and maintain the screed and make adjustments as needed.
· Monitor asphalt levels and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent flow and prevent asphalt segregation.
· Collaborate with paving crew and paver operator to ensure quality results.
· Must have a safety-first attitude.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
· Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Qualifications*
· Must have paving experience.
· Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of highways, roads, and parking lots.
· Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction work.
· Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
· Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
· Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
· Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
· Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
