Our vision for VP Global Platform Leader, Molecular Diagnostics (MDx) at BD The VP, Global Platform Leader, Molecular Diagnostics (MDx) will lead, coach, and engage a global team to achieve strong customer and business outcomes for BD.
They will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the platform and executing globally across functions and regional business teams.
They are accountable for the global performance of the platform against strategic and annual operating plan commitments.
Key responsibilities include: Strategy & Investment Develops and implements the winning strategy, starting with the customer, to achieve short and long term platform objectives.
Sets direction for platform and product line marketing strategies and execution to advance the platform to win in the marketplace.
Supports the development of global competitive strategy –a deep understanding of the competition and how BD can / should win against them.
Works closely across the regional matrix to understand local customer trends and competitive actions, drive optimal execution of global strategies and programs.
Engages with external partners and industry ecosystem participants to ensure connection to opportunities and broader BD engagement in the space Business performance management Lead overall Platform delivery of revenue and gross profit targets, making tradeoffs across product lines, regions, etc.
Collaborate with the Diagnostics business unit and beyond on target setting, KDG reviews, and initiative delivery Innovation & portfolio management Working collaboratively, establishes and drives the platform’s innovation strategy.
Starts with a deep understanding of customer needs and trends as well as the competitive landscape.
Business leadership for prioritizing and driving new product development activities and ensuring product launch success.
Oversees and leads end-to-end product lifecycle across product lines and overall portfolio health; makes decisions to enter / exit / change investment strategy with support from the Business Unit Embeds a strong customer centric focus into portfolio and resource decisions.
Go-to-Market Guides product line marketers; partners with regions to facilitate development and deployment of integrated marketing campaigns across product lines Leads global new product development launch strategies Supports regional success by developing product superiority evidence and tools to demonstrate portfolio and product value.
Production, distribution, quality management Prioritizes and drives accountability for cross functional activities that enable the platform to achieve desired outcomes, including a high focus on operational success.
Develops and leads the Platform team’s worldwide manufacturing/supply chain needs jointly with Operations and in setting short-term and long-term manufacturing strategy and capacity planning.
Culture & Talent Coaches, mentors and develops team members, invests in succession candidates, establishes and drives high performance standards for team.
Leads talent acquisition within the Platform and designs org structure; identifies new capabilities to invest in Serves as an influential member of the Diagnostic Systems Worldwide Leadership Team – partnering with other members to help advance the total Business Unit.
Ensures alignment of the Molecular Diagnostics Platform strategic objectives to the overall BU’s strategic imperatives.
Accomplishes all of the above in a highly compliant manner – consistent with BD policies and procedures Experience and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred with a concentration in marketing or strategy.
10 + years of business experience, including at least 5 years in marketing, new product commercialization, product marketing or strategic planning Domain experience in molecular diagnostics, microbiology / virology diagnostics and laboratory diagnostics preferred.
Demonstrated success in the following areas: Building and leading a strong team, mentoring and developing talents.
Leading and supporting cross-functional teams; driving collaboration to achieve desired results.
Driving programs and initiatives from start to finish.
Strong drive and accountability.
