General Summary:
Performs a variety of painting duties on interior and exterior of buildings and grounds.
Refinishes furniture.
Wallpapers and replaces window glass.
Completes records of time and material used.
Responsible for job site and equipment care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Work requires, in addition to the knowledge acquired through a general high school education, knowledge of painting and refinishing tools and techniques which may be obtained in high school or by a very brief (six months or less) period of intensive preparation outside of school.
Work requires knowledge of painting materials and ability to estimate materials required for various jobs, knowledge of techniques and equipment for brushing, rolling, and spraying knowledge of methods and materials for refinishing, cutting glass and plastics, hanging wallpaper, and repairing drywall and plaster, ability to perform work as scheduled and account daily for own time and materials used, and knowledge of safety procedures and practices - acquired through six to twelve months' experience in painting buildings.
Works requires interpersonal skills sufficient to occasionally (6-20% of work time) exchange information and provide directions with staff, visitors, and patients.
Work requires mixing paints, measuring and hanging wallpaper; requires concentration and attention to detail and occasionally (6-20% of work time) produces mental/visual fatigue.
Work requires physical ability to lift and carry materials and equipment, climb ladders and scaffolding, use small hand tools, and to stand, bend, and stoop for long durations (51-80% of work time).
