*Job Title: *Controls (Service) Engineer
*Reports to: *EuroSort Engineering Manager
*Location:* Owings Mills MD
*Summary of Job Responsibilities:*
The ideal candidate for this position is technically competent, organized and enjoys the challenge that comes with coordinating complex problem solving in an efficient manner.
The Controls (Service) Engineer is responsible for understanding, developing and maintaining PC & PLC software and documentation to control and keep operational the full EuroSort product line of automated machinery.
Responsibilities include working with multiple departments and team members to meet technical and schedule objectives as well as keep customer sites operational at the level expected.
The Controls (Service) Engineer will input with the sales department in the pre-sale stage to help create best solutions for a customer’s unique need.
*A successful Controls (Service) Engineer will:*
· Work independently, as well as with others to troubleshoot existing machinery that is not performing to specification or is shut down completely due to malfunction.
· Determine cause of failure and work with engineering and the customer to get machine operational temporarily in some cases but always to follow through to permanent resolution
· Provide timely technical responses, concepts, and solutions to Sales
· Ensure specifications are clear and achievable at the start of a project and that they are recognized during the performance of the project
· Take ownership of technical aspects of projects
· Interface with customer’s technical counterpart to ensure expectations are aligned
· Communicate and validate project requirements and deliveries with suppliers including integration testing and deployment recommendations
· Initiate cost and efficiency improvements on project designs where possible
· Update documentation for field changes and make sure documentation is adequate to handover project to customer and service department
· Assist with production, installation, and service through technical advisory support
· Answer support phone line during and after standard work hours
· Respond to on-site customer service calls (during day and off business hours)
*Qualifications:*
· Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent with automated machinery PLC (Structure language) programming experience preferred
· A demonstrated knowledge of best practices for:
* Troubleshooting methods and procedures
* Software development conventions and documentation
* Software development for basic mechanical mechanism control
* Mechanical aptitude for automated and materials handling mechanisms
* Safety both in software and hardware
* Ability to properly use hand and power tools
· PLC software experience across multiple control system platforms using primarily structured text preferred
· Knowledge of AUTOCAD preferred, willing to learn required
· Basic knowledge of electrical design and documentation required
· Basic knowledge of electrical and safety standards required
· Experience with Visual Studio >NET Language – C# or VB.
NET, preferred
· Additional experience with database programming, PC Networking, communication protocols would be beneficial
· Team player – able to work with all departments among EuroSort, suppliers, and with customers
· Must be willing to travel up to 50%

The Controls (Service) Engineer has a lot of autonomy to get the job done on schedule and must work independently and with others to successfully ensure all technical goals of a project are met in conjunction with schedule and cost thresholds.
This position has the potential to grow based on the initiative and responsibility demonstrated by the engineer.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.
00 - $110,000.
