Step into Your New Role: Construction Services Department Manager
As a part of our Construction Services Team for the MD-VA-DC (CVA) area, the Maryland Construction Services Department Manager will supervise the planning, coordination, and implementation of construction projects relating to current and future contracts with the Maryland Department of Transportation, District Department of Transportation (DDOT), the Northern Virginia District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and other modal agencies and municipalities within the MD/DC/Northern Virginia (NOVA) region.
Types of projects may include, but not limited to: highway, transitway, interchange, and streetscape; bridge construction, repair, and maintenance; rail and transit; as well as taxiway, runway and terminal improvement projects.
The Construction Division Manager coordinate with engineers, clients, contractors, and field staff as necessary to ensure projects are completed in accordance with contract documents, on-time, and within project budgets while ensuring safety measures are appropriately taken.
Duties include the management of all personnel, client interaction and financial performance for the department.
The Construction Services Department Manager will provide oversight of construction change order administration, inspector performance, and support resolution of construction issues.
Non project specific duties will include regional business development and client engagement within the MD/DC/NOVA area.
Duties include researching, planning, and implementing new target market initiatives as well as prospective client outreach.
Other responsibilities include: Support design teams with constructability reviews of the plans under development.
Establish an estimated cost and what tools and technologies are appropriate for the job as well as timeframe for the work to be completed.
Monitor construction progress.
Supervise construction staff and ensure they’re properly trained and certified in the job requirements and use of all equipment.
Work with lead inspectors in scheduling the inspection resources.
Interact with other consulting firms.
Communicate and visit clients.
Make sure projects adhere to all government and industry standards and guidelines.
Prepare and implement construction management QA/QC Plans.
May have to work non-standard hours, including some nights and weekends on occasion.
You will implement and maintain document control management systems.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS Four-year degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering degree.
10+ years of construction management and inspection experience.
Familiarity with Federal and State Specifications for construction.
Possession of a professional engineer (PE) license in MD, DC, VA or the ability to get reciprocity is required.
Possession of CCM certification is a plus.
Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Ability to plan, organize, assign, lead, motivate and evaluate the work of others.
Construction observation experience with industry standards.
Strong people management skills are required.
Established relationships with state agencies a plus.
Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required for client interaction and business development responsibilities.
Identify and track potential projects, identify / develop teaming partners for project pursuits, prepare qualification packages and proposals, develop / maintain client relations, manage staff and ensure project delivery.
Demonstrated successful past experience with similar responsibilities.

Salary range: $94,154 - $198,384.
