Senior HSE Leader

We are looking for a Senior HSE Leader to join our site leadership team in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing all our Health, Safety and Environment programme.
Leading a team of 2 direct reports, you will be responsible for all elements of the Safety and Environment Scorecard.
The Senior HSE Leader implements and maintains an environmental health and safety program involving hazard identification evaluation and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous material/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and environmental regulatory compliance.
They also champion the site environmental and sustainability efforts including projects, initiatives and animation on site.
THE ROLE In this role you will be responsible for: Advising the site leaders of the resources required both in terms of personnel and finance in order for the Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and programs to be implemented efficiently and effectively.
Ensure that the company is aware of forthcoming legislation and the likely impact it will have on the business, and that the company complies with current legislation.
Provide the facility with technical expertise concerning Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and programs.
Develop and monitor appropriate objectives and targets, policies, procedures and programs in order to comply with legislative requirements and ensure continuous improvements in safety and environmental systems and report Create a site HS&E Action Plan to include all site HS&E actions and ensure tracking and completion process is in place.
Attend management meetings as appropriate to provide feedback in relation to Health, Safety and Environmental performance and related issues.
Ensure that suitable and sufficient incident reporting systems are in place for all department locations, in line with the requirements including communication, escalation, reporting, investigation and actions to prevent recurrence.
Collate and provide accident statistics on a monthly basis, including lost time incidents and accident trends for senior management to review.
Ensure that suitable and sufficient risk assessments are conducted and that adequate control measures are implemented throughout the business, which are commensurate with the degree of risk involved.
Prepare HSE audit schedule in line with the requirements of company requirements and audit the sites performance against the expected outcome of the Coty HS&E 6 Key Element Management Program.
Help resolve health, safety and environment related problems as they occur Ensure that relevant health and safety records are kept in an orderly manner and are readily available for inspection upon request.
Liaise with the enforcing authorities including Police, fire authorities, health and safety inspectors etc.
during visits/inspections and the implementation of recommendations following same.
Ensure that a competent medical service is provided, and that appropriate health initiatives and health surveillance are instigated.
Ensure that the Emergency Response team is fully trained and operational Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety Legislation and all associated legislation and codes of practice.
Ensure all contractors comply with relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
Prepare and understand regulatory agency submissions including but not limited to EPA Tier II, SARA 313, RCRA Biennial, OSHA Logs/reports Schedule & participate in Site Audits/Self-assessments Coach and support Key System Owners in their role QUALIFICATIONS We’d love to see candidates who have: Essential: BS degree with 10 years related experience in an HSE leadership role in Manufacturing or a similar industry; safety, engineering, or equivalent science degree.
Equivalent local legislative qualifications or requirements and needs for Maryland e.

relevant OSHA and EPA qualifications.
Previous experience related to the enforcement of federal and state regulations e.
g.
OSHA is required.
Previous working relationships with OSHA is desirable.
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to communicate effectively with regulatory authorities, government officials, major customers and senior executives within the organization.
Experience creating and managing a budget including resource allocation and priority setting.
Successful leadership and hands-on direction of HSE issues in major operating facilities and business functions that support divisional projects.
Desirable: Experience in a globally and technically diverse workplace.
Experience of dealing with the complexities of the beauty-care and food-care industry.
Demonstrated ability to develop, motivate and direct teams in an organization.
Experienced at developing and implementing customer-focused services and programs.
Previous experience of delivering Environmental/sustainability program.
