Special Education Teacher (Middle School Math/Sheppard Pratt School - Glyndon Primary)

The Sheppard Pratt School - Glyndon is a nonpublic, year round special education day school serving children and young adults (up to age 21) with primarily emotional and behavioral disabilities and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Our programs provide a supportive and structured environment integrating specialized academic instruction, counseling, transition services, and behavioral modification specific to each student population.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Middle School Math Teacher to support the ED programs! Teachers are responsible for the academic planning and teaching and behavioral management of assigned students, which frequently requires the use of independent judgment.
The hired individual must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific student needs in instruction, create appropriate learning environment in classroom setting and differentiate lessons based on the individual needs of the students.
Monitors, evaluates, and reports on students' progress and also attends and participates in meetings and works cooperatively with other members of the School staff.
Requires: Bachelor's degree and at least 3 months of related teaching experience (i.
e.
student teaching, internships, etc.
).
Must have or be eligible for a conditional, standard professional or advanced certification with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) at time of appointment.
Candidates with a conditional certification must obtain standard professional or advanced certification within two to four years of starting in teaching role, as determined by MSDE evaluation of the individual's credentials.
Must maintain MSDE certification requirements throughout tenure in position.
Background in Math and experience teaching adolescents with emotional/behavioral issues strongly preferred.
