Linwood Center is currently seeking Full Time Special Education Teachers.
The teacher will be the instructional leader for a classroom of no more than six students.
The teacher will be responsible for developing an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student that includes personalized goals that are tailored to the student’s individual needs and ability.
When appropriate, the program includes a transition plan outlining specific steps to prepare students with disabilities for middle school or high school or, in the case of older students, a job or post-secondary study.
The teacher shall review the IEP with the student’s parents, school administrators and other professionals.
The teacher works closely with parents to inform them of their child’s progress and suggests techniques to promote learning at home.
The teacher implements the Maryland State Curriculum as well as other appropriate guides and assigns work geared toward each student’s needs and abilities.
S/he is involved in the students’ behavioral, social, and academic development, helping the students adapt in social situations and engage in socially acceptable behavior.
This includes the following responsibilities:
* Teaches classes at the elementary, middle or high level, in core academic subjects, elective or special subjects, within a specific area of special education.
* Prepares, adapts, and delivers instructional material.
* Develops suitable curricula and effective teaching methods based on assessment of students’ needs.
* Evaluates students’ academic and behavioral progress and participates in review and revision of IEP, as appropriate.
* Prepare individualized education plans in consultation with parents and IEP team members.
* Designs instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum.
* Creates and maintains student records, and prepares progress reports relative to the work.
* Manage classroom organization.

*Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)*
* Must hold a valid Maryland teaching certificate.
* Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree.
* Candidate must be able to pass a State and Federal Background check
* Candidate must be able to pass a drug test.
