The St.
Paul’s Schools is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time upper school Spanish teacher at St.
Paul’s School for Girls for the 2024-2025 school year.
School Overview Voted one of Baltimore’s top workplaces, the St.
Paul’s Schools is a family of independent schools located in Brooklandville, Maryland.
With more than 1,400 students from ages 6 weeks to grade 12, St.
Paul’s Pre and Lower School (coed), St.
Paul’s School for Boys, and St.
Paul’s School for Girls share a 120-acre campus, an Episcopal affiliation, and a focus on developing confident, well-balanced students who will use their education and ethics to improve the world.
In July 2018, the schools unified under the umbrella of The St.
Paul's Schools, with a single board of trustees and one president, but each school retains its individual traditions and its gender-specific programs.
A coordinated structure allows The St.
Paul’s Schools to preserve the small-school feel within each school while sharing resources and certain programs to maximize opportunities for students.
With St.
Paul’s unique model, boys and girls are taught together and separately at just the right times in their development.
Specifically, St.
Paul's School for Girls has over 430 girls in grades 5-12.
St.
Paul’s School for Girls educates hearts and minds in an inclusive community that is grounded in the Episcopal values of respect, integrity, and spiritual growth.
We empower voice, nurture intellectual curiosity and creativity, and inspire confident leaders who serve in the world.
Position Description The ideal candidate will be a creative, passionate, and experienced Spanish teacher who inspires students and thrives in a collaborative atmosphere.
The ideal candidate has a communicative approach to teaching and designs units and lessons that integrate ACTFL world-readiness standards at all levels through which students develop linguistic proficiency and cultural competence with an eye to diversity, equity and inclusion as core to their teaching practice.
The candidate sparks a love for learning in her or his students and provides opportunities to strengthen students’ critical thinking skills.
The ideal candidate is excited to teach and creates developmentally appropriate lessons that engage students and inspire appreciation for the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures locally and globally.
Candidates with a Master’s Degree will be given preference.
While independent school experience is preferred, it is not required.
In addition to contributing to the conversations and goals of the world language and cultures department, candidates should also be eager to contribute to SPSG’s school-wide goals: providing rigorous, relevant, and responsive, student-centered instruction that meets the needs of a range of students; developing a multicultural curriculum; and integrating technology as it facilitates learning.
In addition to teaching, full-time faculty members serve as student advisors, club mentors, and contribute in other significant ways to the work of the community.
We are especially interested in candidates with coaching experience and/or those who can demonstrate initiative and serve as coaches in a variety of significant ways outside of the classroom.
Other supervisory responsibilities and duties are shared among faculty members.
The St.
Paul’s Schools are committed to creating a supportive learning environment where all individuals are valued for their unique contributions and are able to achieve their highest potential.
We strongly believe that a diverse and inclusive environment is the best learning environment for our students and prepares them to live, work, and thrive in an increasingly global and multicultural community.
We reject all prejudice, particularly those based on race, national and ethnic origin, religion, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, and physical characteristics.
As you know, COVID-19 has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization.
While COVID-19 is highly contagious, the School is taking precautions and implementing safety measures to prevent the spread.
All members of the School community have a shared responsibility to support and comply with policies and protocols to protect the health and safety of our community.
As an additional mitigation measure and to further aid in preventing the spread of COVID-19, the School is requiring all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and to provide documentation demonstrating that they are vaccinated unless they have been granted a religious or medical exemption to this policy as an accommodation.
Full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits program which includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, vision, disability and 403(b).
Other supplemental benefits include free lunch, fitness center and tuition remission.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Interested candidates can send their cover letter, resume and list of references to Shannon Duckett, Executive Director of Human Resources, at sduckett@stpaulsmd.
