JOB TITLE: Resource Teacher, Mathematics (School-based, 10-Month)
DESCRIPTION: Provides direct support to students through push-in/pull-out model, and provides expertise, service, and support in mathematics classrooms with evidence-based instructional practices.
Provides a variety of classroom support to include data analysis, and planning for instruction to support the mathematics program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Provides mathematics instruction, intervention, or extension for small groups of students of various ability levels.
Utilizes evidence-based screening tools to assess individual students to identify specific areas of targeted need and plan responsive small group and individual mathematics instruction aligned to College and Career Standards.
Works collaboratively with the school-based leadership team to analyze data to support the mathematics program.
Works collaboratively with teachers to co-plan, co-teach and model customized lessons based on formative assessment data.
Demonstrates knowledge of mathematics learning difficulties and disabilities including dyscalculia, reasoning and sense making, problem solving processes, targeted interventions, progress monitoring, and possible accommodations.
Assists groups of students with demonstrating mastery on the BCPS Curriculum Based Assessments (CBA), Measures of Academic Progress growth assessment (MAP), and the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program tests (MCAP).
Provides support with class size reduction model and adapts mathematics curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
Maintains personal professional growth in elementary and middle school mathematics instructional practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the assignment.
Master’s degree preferred.
Three years of successful teaching experience in mathematics.
Experience in planning and implementing related professional development.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Professional Certificate is required.
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate is preferred.
Mathematics Instructional Leader endorsement preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong early childhood and elementary school mathematics content.
Knowledge of effective instructional practices in early childhood and elementary mathematics; demonstration of strong communication and human relations skills; demonstration of effective organization and communication skills; demonstration of strong computer/technology skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The work of the Mathematics Resource Teacher (School Based) is performed in classroom environments.
Work involves instructional practice and interactions with students and staff.
