Supervisor Head of Lower School

General Summary
McDonogh School, a PK-12 institution serving 1,400 students from the greater Baltimore region, seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time literacy interventionist who will work with lower school children.
The ideal candidate will have a deep love of working with children in their formative years.
Essential Functions
Instruct reading and writing to small groups of students in multiple grade levels in a face-to-face school setting
Deliver designated instructional models in reading and writing skills to eligible students through the utilization of materials and educational strategies
Utilize school-provided curriculum to develop and maintain individualized skill-appropriate lesson plans
Ensure supervision of students at all times, including escorting students safely to and from classrooms/learning stations
Use structured literacy assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction
Interpret literacy data
Perform data entry in a timely fashion to meet deadlines (student attendance, online pre/post testing, progress reports, parent and classroom teacher communication forms, compliance documentation)
Establish and maintain student forms and files as required by the School
Maintain consistent communication with supervisors, classroom teachers, and parents
Other duties (e.

, lunch, recess, etc.
) as assigned to help support the school community
Recommended Employment Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Orton-Gillingham training preferred.
Additional Experience
Classroom teaching and/or tutoring experience
Experience using Google Suite tools, major LMS platforms, and other emerging technologies
Familiarity with universal screeners and progress monitoring

Must be able to comply with background checks, including fingerprints, as required by the agency and / or state regulations
Must be willing to teach various grade levels
MUst have a high degree of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
Must have a passion for helping students
Working Conditions
Evening and weekend hours may be required from time to time.
Lifting and carrying of equipment is not typical but may be required on rare occasions.
Lifting up to 25 pounds.
Other working conditions include climbing stairs, walking around campus, sitting, standing, and significant computer use including extensive close use of a computer monitor.
