Principal Responsibilities:
SUMMARY:
The Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC Dance at the J Program is seeking a hip hop dance instructor for the upcoming school year.
The ideal dance instructor is prepared and eager to be a role model within their field, for the Center of Arts & Culture, and the JCC as a whole.
Experience and a love for teaching children of all ages, as well as extensive experience in their art form, is imperative.
The JCC and the Dance at the J programming celebrate both being proudly Jewish and being an inclusive space for all.
We welcome staff and participants from diverse backgrounds and actively strive to provide an open and welcoming setting, irrespective of personal practices, beliefs, or backgrounds.
We expect our dance instructors to create an equitable classroom environment by performing their duties with empathetic understanding towards every student, regardless of their gender, sexuality, race, ability, or identity.
Will be supervised by the director of youth arts education.
Experience working with children is necessary.
Submissions with dance and/or teaching reels is highly preferred.
COMMITMENT:
September-December 2023.
Looking to staff Tuesday's Basic Hip Hop (ages 5-7 years old; 4:45-5:30 PM) and Tuesday's Open Level Hip Hop (ages 8-12; 5:45-6:45 PM).
Fall session begins September 18th and runs through mid-November.
Estimated 2-3 hours a week.
Availability to also teach private dance lessons is also highly desired.
Availability and experience in other dance forms is also highly desired, as we may inquire about other additional classes needed to staff.
Upon completion of these sessions and evaluation from the supervisor, will then discuss summer and future employment and availability.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for understanding all safety procedures of the J and could lead the participants in the event of an emergency.
Attending all meetings, special events, and training required.
Adhere to the dress code requirements as well as always meet all JCC standards for professionalism in conduct and appearance; Instructor agrees to wear appropriate dance or athletic clothing and shoes for the class for which they are teaching (example: If teaching ballet, the instructor is required to wear ballet shoes).
Must wear JCC issued nametag.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 2 years' prior experience teaching (experience with school-aged students preferred).
10 + years of formal dance training.
Availability to teach weekday afternoons.
Extensive experience working with differing levels of dance, age groups, and learning abilities.
Able to plan, write, and execute a well thought out, age-appropriate curriculum.
Strong organizational and communication skills, a willingness to collaborate, and the ability to be flexible.
Ability to communicate effectively with dancer families.
Excels in classroom management; commands a room but remains patient and ever inclusive to all students as per the JCC and Dance at the J values.
COMPENSATION: Competitive Paid position; dependent on experience between $35-55 per hour.
Part time position.
Salary:
$65,000 - $75,000
