*Overview*: The Catholic Religious Education (RE) Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the religious education programs and activities at the JBAB Chapel.
The coordinator will work closely with the Catholic Priest/assigned Chaplain to develop, implement, and oversee various aspects of the Catholic RE program.
This role involves administrative, teaching, and organizational responsibilities to ensure the effective delivery of religious education to the Catholic community.
*Responsibilities*:
*Program Development and Management*:Develop, maintain, and coordinate the JBAB Chapel Catholic RE Program.
Plan, prepare, and conduct training sessions for volunteers and participants.
Create an annual calendar of events and budgets for approval by the Catholic Priest/Chaplain.
Coordinate classroom setup, audiovisual support, and administrative requirements for RE programs.
Propose and implement effective advertisements for RE programs and events.
*Volunteer Management*:Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for the Catholic RE programs.
Ensure that qualified adult supervision is present during all RE activities involving minors.
Establish and maintain a Roman Catholic volunteer program following established policies.
*Curriculum and Sacramental Programs*:Develop and implement preparation programs for sacraments such as baptism, first penance, first communion, and confirmation.
Organize training sessions for parents and parent meetings related to sacraments.
Ensure all RE curriculum aligns with the requirements of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA.
*Resource Management*:Maintain an organized assortment of visual aids, teaching materials, and multimedia resources.
Manage supplies, inventory, and consumable materials for RE programs.
Provide and track expenses related to the approved budget and submit monthly invoices.
*Communication and Reporting*:Communicate effectively with chapel staff, volunteers, parents, and participants.
Maintain accurate attendance records and report attendance numbers to the Catholic priest/designee.
Provide regular updates on RE activities, events, and budget to the Catholic Priest.
*Compliance and Security*:Ensure compliance with copyright rules and laws for materials used in the programs.
Maintain a professional environment, including facility cleanliness and security.
Follow all required regulations and guidelines for the proper administration of resources.
*Background Check and Oversight*:Undergo and ensure all volunteers undergo a background check as required by DoDI regulations.
Maintain compliance with background check regulations, including provisional background check guidance.
Coordinate with the Senior Installation Chaplain for any personnel-related issues.
*Professional Development*:Stay updated with RE leadership certifications and relevant religious education practices.
Attend mandatory training sessions and maintain training records.
*Requirements*:
* Minimum of a high school diploma and at least one year of experience as a Director/Coordinator of Religious Education in Catholic Chapels/Churches.
* Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
* Thorough understanding of Catholic faith doctrines and worship practices.
* Certification for Religious Education leadership in the Roman Catholic Church/Military Archdiocese.
* At least three years of experience working with Roman Catholic liturgies and rites.
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
* Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and administrative tasks.
* Budget planning and management skills.
* Must be a Catholic in good standing.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
*Work Schedule*: Approximately 80 hours per month, with a core work schedule of 20 hours weekly on-site, to be negotiated with the Catholic priest/chaplain, including weekends and flexible hours as needed.
