Job Description: The Transfer Evaluation and Articulation Coordinator position reports to the Registrar and serves as primary point of contact in the Registrar's Office for information related to the transfer of credit.
Primarily responsibilities include: analyzing and interpreting academic transcripts, prior learning assessments, and other official documents to determine transferability of credit while adhering to college policy and state guidelines; evaluating transfer credit and updating transfer equivalences; maintaining the College's system of record for course equivalences; implementing the Transfer Equivalency System (TES) or Maryland Articulation System (ARTSYS); working closely with Admissions, academic advisors, faculty, and other staff to provide timely and accurate information regarding transfer credit.
This is a full-time, 35-hour a week position.
The hiring range is $46,000 - $48,000.
Specific Responsibilities The Transfer Evaluation and Articulation Coordinator Serves as primary point of contact in the Registrar's Office for information related to the transfer of credit.
Reviews, interprets, and evaluates college transcripts for newly admitted students to determine the placement of transfer courses to accurately prepare transfer credit evaluations from various sources including other educational institutions, military, domestic and international transcripts, documentation of experiential learning and professional certifications, and workplace learning evaluated by a recognized agency such as ACE, and tests/examination credit.
Ensures transfer credit evaluations are completed accurately and within college-established timeframes.
Researches transfer institutions to determine accreditation, institution type, degree levels, calendar system, course numbering, grading system, and transferability of courses to McDaniel College.
Determines transfer coursework applicability and/or equivalency.
Authenticates documents and ensures the accurate evaluation and timely posting of transfer credits.
Reviews Transfer Credit Pre-Approval forms, Study Abroad Pre-Approval of Transfer Credit, and Study Abroad Returnee Transfer Credit Approval Forms.
Researches and responds to inquiries related to students' transfer evaluation and serves as a resource for students, College personnel, and the general public.
Coordinates with assistant registrar for degree progress to ensure that courses are transferred and course substitutions are submitted.
Implements the Transfer Equivalency System (TES) and/or updates Maryland Articulation System (ARTSYS); including the public facing website and serve as the administrator and trainer in use of these.
Maintains the College's system of record for course equivalences, including updating course equivalencies as required via the curriculum approval process and other relevant procedures.
Creates and implements procedures for academic departments and programs to approve equivalency changes.
Analyze workflow processes, analyze data, resolve problems/issues, prepare reports, and provide recommendations for improved workflow as warranted.
Collaborate on transfer and articulation agreements between other institutions and McDaniel College, and regularly review agreements to ensure accuracy.
Reviews transfer student academic records for community college reverse transfer agreement eligibility.
Maintains, updates, and processes regular reports including, but not limited to, repeated coursework, dual enrollments, and evaluation/equivalency inconsistencies.
Remains informed on current legislation and MHEC regulations regarding transfer credit and maintains consistency and compliance for transfer credit and credit for prior learning.
Ensures excellent customer service and manage correspondence of transfer credit communications for students, faculty, advisors, staff, and others.
Assist with development and accomplishment of office goals.
Participate on committees as requested.
Assists with commencement duties as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A Bachelor degree in any discipline from an accredited higher education institution with at least two years of related work experience in a Registrar's or Admissions Office, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of transfer student processes as well as experience working with student information systems (e.
g.
Ellucian Colleague) and systems such as ARTSYS and TES preferred.
Strategic thinking with the ability to identify and to solve problems and deal with multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wider range of constituents.

Experience with curricula and accreditation of international and U.
S.
institutions.
Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail.

Research-driven utilizing both online and paper-based resources, websites, books, course syllabus, course descriptions, college catalogs, and other documents in order to properly evaluate, analyze and equate transferred courses.
Well versed in student privacy issues, compliance with state and federal laws, and those laws and regulations governing the safekeeping of student records (e.
g.
FERPA, Personally Identifiable Information, General Data Protection Regulation {GDPR}) Self-motivated, flexible, and possessing a strong work ethic.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and experience with higher education enterprise student applications and student information systems student records systems.
Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely working in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Physical Abilities The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Close visual activity.
