Position Title Adjunct Fair 2024 Physical Sciences FLSA Non-Exempt FT/PT Part Time Hours Per Week Varies depending on course Work Schedule Varies depending on course Position Salary Range See adjunct faculty pay rates for current fiscal year General Responsibilities The Department of Physical Sciences (Division of Health, Science, and Technology) is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated adjunct instructors to teach various physical science courses, including lecture and lab instruction.
Classes are offered in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, fully online, and hybrid modes of instruction.
Weekday and evening teaching opportunities are available.
Join our team of dedicated instructors to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists and to instill fundamental scientific competence in students across the college.
Enjoy small class sizes, supportive coordinators, well-equipped classrooms, and top-of-the-line lab facilities and equipment.

The Department of Physical Sciences is looking for adjunct faculty to teach in these subjects: Astronomy Chemistry (organic and inorganic) Geology Oceanography Physics Note that applications are reviewed periodically by department chairs and course coordinators on an as-needed basis to staff courses in fall, winter, spring, and summer terms.
Approximately 10-30 new adjuncts are hired every year.
Your application enters you into an adjunct pool that is monitored during specific times of year, not continuously.

pdf Work Performed Candidates should be prepared to engage modern learners through effective and rigorous instruction that utilizes appropriate technology and employs teaching strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles.
Adjunct faculty are expected to: Plan, organize, and teach curriculum content in alignment with course objectives.
Use applicable technology and pedagogical principles, teach course content via an appropriate delivery format (may include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote instruction).
Complete required institutional trainings and professional development.
Follow department and division requirements for preparing a course syllabus.
Plan and deliver appropriate instructional activities that promote student engagement and learning.
Evaluate student performance using assessment tools as directed by the department Inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
Maintain an up-to-date electronic grade book and enter final grades by the established due date.
Comply with attendance and grading requirements as established for the course.
Participate in departmental evaluation and course assessment processes as needed.
Maintain regular communication with students, including timely replies to student emails.
Use the assigned HCC email for communication with the department and with students.
Minimum Education Required Minimum Number of Years Experience Required Other Knowledge Required Master’s degree in related field for lecture instruction; Bachelor’s degree in related field for lab instruction.
Prior teaching experience is preferred.
