Paraprofessional Position

Description: Under the general supervision of the Head of School, and with the direct supervision from a teacher or administrative assistant, the paraprofessional position provides assistance to the administration and to students in small groups or in a one-to-one format throughout the school day.
Assignments may include working with individuals and/or a small group of students and completing clerical work as assigned.

Assists teachers in implementing lesson plans and preparing instructional materials and learning activities.
Works with individual and small groups of students, under the guidance of the teacher.
Keeps track of individual student performance.
Checks papers.
Supports attendance monitoring.
Works effectively with students including safely escorting and monitoring transitions throughout the school day and upon arrival and departure in the cafeteria and/or on the playgrounds.
Locates and prepares learning resource equipment and materials.
Assists on field trips.
May be required to supervise students in transit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains files and record systems.
Operates a variety of office machines and equipment.
Gives information to or elicits information from parents/guardians to properly complete forms and procedures.
Screens forms and documents to determine accuracy and completeness of information.
Receives, lifts, sorts, delivers, and organizes mail and other materials.
Compiles and organizes data for reports.
Uses computers to enter data, prepare reports, and maintain information.
Prepares forms and documents for distribution.
Salary:
$18.
00/hour or potential salaried position
Hours:
Full-time position
8:00am - 4:00pm daily
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to maintain confidentiality when discussing students’ progress and concerns with staff
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form
Ability to reinforce lesson plans to support the educational program
Ability to follow directions from the teacher and/or administrative staff
Ability to work with small groups of students and assist with instruction
Ability to execute assignments to completion
Ability to perform clerical duties
Possess basic technology knowledge to support student learning and clerical tasks
Skilled in software applications such as Microsoft Office and Google Drive
Ability to demonstrate strong human relations skills
Ability to have positive and professional communication with staff, administrators, parents, and/or the community
Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Required Licenses and Certification:
Experience working with children
