Job Title: Custodian Department: Facilities Essential Job Functions: Perform custodial and environmental services duties in a commercial cleaning setting.
Follow established cleaning protocols and safety procedures.
Clean and sanitize restrooms and common areas.
Clean and maintain various types of flooring, including carpet, tile, and hardwood.
Operate floor cleaning equipment, such as buffers, scrubbers, and extractors.
Ability to work in autonomy with minimal supervision.
Ability to multitask and effective time-management skills.
Ability to verbally communicate and interpersonal skills.
Daily inspections of all areas, which may include recleaning and sanitizing if needed.
Light to moderate lifting or rearranging of furniture within facilities.
Responsible for cleaning up spills that may include body fluids.
Reports needs and concerns to the appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and answer basic questions.
Conduct all contacts with families and other agency staff with professional.
Check and respond to emails daily to maintain proper communication.
Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings.
Staff will be required to utilize agency electronic systems for communication, time and attendance, progress notes, incident report filing, etc.
All other duties that may be requested by the Supervisor.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Other: Maintenance Technician must maintain a professional and courteous manner with residents, visitors, contractors, and fellow employees.
One must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff, administrators, and governing boards.
Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format to administrative staff, colleagues, and governing boards.
Physical Requirements: Person must be able to walk, stand, and sit for up to 8 hours.
Person must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
