Grassroots is seeking a *Volunteer & In-Kind Donations Coordinator* who is responsible for the recruitment and support of agency volunteers and the solicitation and acquisition of in-kind donations.
*The general schedule for this position follows normal first shift office hours Monday - Friday, however this position requires some evenings and weekends.
Must be able to adjust schedule based upon program needs*_*.
*_ *Education and Experience:* * High School Degree and experience in Human/Social Services or Community Services field.
* Knowledge with Microsoft Office Software; including Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, etc.
* Familiarity with a volunteer management system (currently using Volgistics software).
* Ability to complete CPR/First Aid certification.
* Possession of a valid driver’s license required.
*Primary Responsibilities:* * Recruit, interview, and provide orientation for volunteers.
* Develop volunteer positions and assignments.
* Oversee ongoing volunteer activities in conjunction with agency staff.
* Support staff, volunteer and guest needs at the Shelter, Day Resource Center (DRC) and the Crisis Centers.
* Recognize volunteer achievements and participation.
* Submit volunteer monthly and annual reports and satisfaction survey.
* Responsible for assisting with answering incoming calls on the business line among a team of volunteers and shelter staff.
* Order supplies for the Emergency Shelter employees and Executive Director.
* Solicit, obtain, and manage In-Kind donations for the organization.
* Respond to donation inquiries on the Info account.
* Update Sign-Up Genius for dinner meals, monthly ‘current needs’ list, Target community/charity, and Amazon registries.
* Assemble housewarming kits for residents departing the Emergency Shelter.
* Maintain donation logs for shelter, dinner meals, and DRC with volunteer support.
* Forward volunteer images and content to Director of Marketing for social media.
* Oversee the volunteers who send thank you/acknowledgement email and letters to donors.
* Collect household items for shelter residents moving to stable housing.
* Manage gift card solicitation, client requests, and donor partnerships for annual programming, events, and other celebrations.
* Serve as liaison with all relevant partnerships, foundations and manage all associated tasks and communications with them.
* Maintain recreational supplies, toys, playroom, arts, and crafts materials.
*Secondary Responsibilities: * * Develop relationships with individuals and community groups.
* Represents the agency at community events and conduct presentations.
* Recruit volunteers for shelter landscaping improvements to include watering gardens, trimming hedges, and storing equipment.
* Share lobby coverage with Family Shelter staff when Security is completing rounds of the facility.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Agency-wide Responsibilities:* * Participates in supervision, in-service training, and staff meetings.
* Maintains good working relationships with co-workers and positively contributes to group morale.
* Completes all administrative duties including time sheets, leave requests, etc.
* Participates in special task forces, committees, or special projects as needed.
* Uses appropriate channels of communication to resolve conflicts with other staff.
* Interacts with staff, clients, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
*Skills and Abilities:* * Empathetic to the needs of others.
* Excellent written and communication skills.
* Ability to develop and maintain relationships with individuals and community groups in Howard County.
* Strong attention to detail and possesses good organizational skills.
*Work Conditions:* * Donations tasks require the ability to move, lift, bend, carry, and manipulate items including boxes, bags, and supplies, etc.
on a regular basis.
* Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
* Flexible work schedule to include weekend and evening events, as needed.
* Overnight travel is not required.
