Position Overview
The Senior Tax Accountant is a tax professional responsible for Federal and Multistate tax compliance and consulting services.
This includes income / franchise and local tax preparation, as well as detailed technical reviews of C Corp, S Corp, Partnership, Individual and Fiduciary income tax returns.
It also includes experience in US reporting of Foreign entities (Forms 8858, 8865, 5471, 5472 etc.
).
This position requires the ability to research and resolve complex tax issues, provide tax assistance to branch offices throughout the US, and to provide consulting and tax planning services.
The Senior Tax Accountant must be detail-oriented and have experience in the preparation of multi-state consolidated income tax returns.
Essential Functions
Consolidated Multi-State Corporate Tax Returns – Accurately prepare separate company returns, forms, schedules and foreign reporting forms, as well as consolidated returns for Federal and State filings.
Perform calculations and prepare quarterly estimated tax filings.
Tax Return Reviews of Business Income / Franchise Tax Returns (Forms 1120, 1065, 1120S, and 1041) and Individual Income Tax Returns, including related forms and schedules, and any required state returns.
Some tax preparation required.
Collaboration – effectively interact with personnel in other departments (accounting, legal, etc.
) as required related to gathering and sharing information.
Tax Research – ability to effectively research complex tax issues, analyze, summarize, and communicate results with team members and managers.
Tax Planning – identification of tax planning opportunities, assist with related projects and implementation of tax planning strategies.
Actively participate in communication of compliance-related advice to internal clients located throughout the firm.
Tax Notices, Correspondence and Audits – assist with responding to Internal Revenue Service and State Department of Revenue notices and issues.
Participate in case resolution.
Support branch office personnel regarding CCH Axcess basic issues.
Assist with the development and implementation of technical tax training for firm personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax
4+ years of progressive tax experience
Experience with CCH Axcess, Excel, Adobe Acrobat
CCH Financial Prep and Answer Connect experience a plus
Licensed CPA, CPA candidate or EA
Bilingual English / French a plus
Active PTIN required upon hiring
