Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Staff Accountant, who will be accountable for program accounting, special projects, and other analytical projects as assigned.
The hybrid work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (3 days in the office / 2 days at home).
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares financial statements including the calculation, write up and posting of all journal entries.
Reviews financial statements for compliance errors, and budget variances, and posts adjustments as necessary / appropriate.
Informs supervisor of significant issues.
Assists with preparation of annual budgets and mid-year projections for assigned programs.
Prepares documents and schedules for internal and external audits as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Employees working in the following program(s) have responsibilities that are in addition to the
above duties and responsibilities.
These include, but are not limited to:
Senior Communities.
Programs are primarily apartment buildings for low-income seniors that follow HUD regulations.
Performs housing rental income voucher processing for assigned HUD programs.
Reconciles balance sheet accounts (including cash) and revenue / accounts receivable streams for
tenants and HUD.
Prepares required audited financial statements and footnotes to audit reports for assigned
programs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 2 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of accounting processes, regulations, and procedures.
Researches and analyzes technical issues and financial data.
Recognizes impending and/or significant issues and problem areas, and initiates communication.
Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions.
Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.
e.
, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.
), and Microsoft Outlook skills required.
Other Microsoft Office application knowledge such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Skype, and OneDrive desired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
